Taste of the coffee

The Capra Walie is a highly aromatic espresso with a bold flavor and a slight acidity. Tasting notes: Dark chocolate, blueberry, jasmine

Use of this coffee

This coffee is roasted for making espresso. It really comes into its own with brew ratios of around 2 (a syrupy espresso).
Occasionally you can make larger coffees such as an espresso lungo or long black. (An espresso diluted with a little water.) If you mainly drink larger coffees, you might be better off choosing an espresso lungo roast such as the GujiBrew #1.
This coffee is best suited for semi-automatic machines ('piston machines'). Because superautomatic machines often cannot make a very strong espresso, this coffee is less suitable for most superautomatic machines.
You can use this coffee in a moka pot (sometimes called a percolator), but do not let too much water run through.
This espresso roast is not suitable for filter coffee. Filter coffee will taste bitter and flat.

Origin of the coffee

This coffee comes from the Sidamo region in Ethiopia. It is a heirloom coffee, meaning it is a blend of naturally occurring varieties. The coffee is grown organically, and we also sell it as organic. (We are certified organic, NL-BIO-01)

Ecology

Capra Walie coffee is grown in Ethiopia in the natural forests of Sidamo. It is produced organically, without the use of pesticides or artificial fertilizers. We sell this coffee as organic. (We are certified organic under NL-BIO-01).

On top of that, Danvi invests in reforestation around the world through a project in Peru that is run by the local population and a foundation in the Netherlands. For every 5 kilos of coffee we sell, we donate the planting and maintenance of 1 tree to this project.

Drink our coffee, we plant a tree

Have your coffee ground

You can have us grind your coffee. See the list below for the recommended grind size. A lower number means a finer grind.

Please note:
These values are starting points. Adjustments to the suggested grind size may be necessary for optimal results.

Not every bean tastes good with every brewing method. Read the coffee description for advice on how to use the coffee.

  • Semi-automatic espresso machine with a regular filter basket: 1.5
  • Semi-automatic espresso machine with a 'pressurised' filter basket: 2.5
  • Moka pot 1 to 3 cups: 4
  • Moka pot 4 to 10 cups: 4.5
  • Filter coffee: 8
  • French press: 12

A pressurised filter basket is a filter basket with built-in resistance that allows water to flow through slowly regardless of the grind size. Such a filter basket is usually recognisable by its double bottom, with many holes visible on the inside across the entire bottom and only a few holes visible on the outside.
